Child abuse: recognizing the injuriesBirmingham Childrens Hospital, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham Burns Unit, Birmingham, UK The social, biological and historical context of non-accidental childrens injuries is discussed. Clinical features of physical, emotional, sexual and artefactual abusive injuries are presented. The importance of considering natural, disease and accidental causes is stressed.
