St George's Healthcare NHS Trust, Blackshaw Road, Tooting, London SW17 0QT, UK Acetabular fractures are uncommon other than in the polytrauma setting, and most orthopaedic surgeons will never develop a wide exposure to them. The early management of these injuries can have profound effects on the long term outcomes from what is often a significant injury in a young patient. We present a current review of the anatomy, classification and management guidelines for acetabular fractures, including a comprehensive review of the major decision making processes, as well as describing the most common complications and the expected outcomes.
